The two told deputies they were homeless and were looking for a place to sleep. The reporting party told dispatch they suspected the subjects in the vehicle were using a controlled substance, according to the police report.ĭeputies arrived and made contact with the two occupants of the vehicle, who were identified as Roach and Barker. Melinda Rose Roach and Arthur Barker were arrested after a call came in regarding a report of a suspicious vehicle. A 22-year-old Carson City woman and a 41-year-old Carson City man were arrested in the area of Millennium and Molly Drive Tuesday evening on the felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia. They were released without incident to the Carson City Jail. While in custody, deputies found yet another magnetic device on Ramos’s person during pre-booking. She said he put the gun in her bag, along with the magnetic device. She also said the man had been carrying the gun in the store and that he stole the clothing. Ramos, according to the report, described where the heroin was located but said it was not hers. He said he had no knowledge of the gun in her bag. The man said Ramos was a heroin user and she was supposed to be flying to Texas the following day to enter a rehabilitation facility. Two items of clothing with the tags still on were also located, which were identified by the manager of the department store as being stolen. Two more burglary tools were located in the car, one near the center console and another in the back seat. There was also a magnetic device wrapped in tape, which deputies identified as a burglary tool used to deactivate security devices in stores. 38 semi-automatic pistol in a black purse, which was also on the passenger side. It was located in a small reflective bag on the passenger side, according to the report, which is where Ramos was sitting. The Deputy K-9 conducted an exterior sniff of the car and gave a positive alert.ĭeputies located a syringe with a dark brown fluid inside which deputies identified as heroin. Deputies asked if he was still using drugs, and he said he used heroin.Īn unnamed Deputy K-9 was dispatched to search the car, and the man admitted to having drug “rigs” in his car. He said he had been trespassed from the Reno stores because he had previously been arrested from stealing from the stores.ĭispatch advised he had been convicted of petit larceny three times in the past and had been arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia. He denied stealing the headphones and told deputies where he had left the headphones in the store. The man was asked to step out of the car and was detained he was in possession of multiple different knives on his person. Ramos handed the deputy the headphones who advised they were “very similar to the headphones the man was seen holding in the store.” While the deputy was speaking to the man, dispatch advised a pair of Skull Candy headphones had been reported missing from the department store, which were in plain view on the floor of the passenger seat in the car. The man admitted to being in the store, but said he thought he was not allowed to return to the stores in the Reno area, not the Carson store. They made contact with the man and woman and explained why they were being stopped. Deputies immediately located the car at a nearby fast food restaurant’s parking lot on S. Upon arrival, deputies were told the man and woman had left the area in their car, described as a white Nissan Altima. They were advised the man was known to be confrontational with staff. Carson Street department store at approximately 6:45 pm in regards to a trespasser, according to the report.
